Re: Just a few questions about Norton.

Hi AudiA1,

Not trying to be funny - but I sure wish there were a switch I could set to OFF that would stop users from looking in their History and worrying about everything they see when they have that all important Green Check mark on their Norton Icon in the System Tray!

Now in regards to your ID Safe Maintenance - as I understand it, that is a meaningless (to the user) task that Norton has included with the other grayed out tasks just to let the user know what maintenance Norton is doing in the background.  I also understand that it is stopped when the system is placed on battery power and will complete once it is placed back on the mains.  I have never tried this to see if that is how it really works, but you may want to check to see if it will complete if pokaced on the mains power.  Bottom line is as I said - the user can't do anything with it.  Bottom line -I would not be concerned about it.

What are you going to do when you stumble across an INFO entry in the reports Log  that has severity marked Critical?  If there is no alert/notification and that Green Checkmark is on the Norton Icon in the System Tray, you have nothing to worry about.

I suggest you just sit back, smile at the green checkmark from time to time and enjoy your computer, rather spending time pouring thru all the logs.
