Well after seeing your machine specs, I would say the #1 problem is the limited 1279 Mb RAM, along with the low 1.6 GHz single-core processor speed. You're basically lucky you can do anything worthwhile on that machine with any antivirus product installed. Even if an antivirus product used minimal RAM, you will always get some kind of noticeable delay or the not repsonding issue because of the low processor speed (and nearly constant swapping RAM to pagefile).
Too bad nothing has helped, as Norton is a great av product for computers that meet the realistic specs.
