This grey overlay icon indicates that the file was excluded from the backup set.

Did you happen to change any of the back up settings recently? Have you upgraded from Norton 360 v20 to v21?

I should also point out that by default, Norton 360 excludes certain folders from the backup such as:

C:\Program Files\
C:\ProgramData\
C:\Users\Public\Music\Sample Music\
C:\Users\Public\Pictures\Sample Pictures\
C:\Users\Public\Videos\Sample Videos\

If you are unable to restore your specific items into the backup set, let us know.
