Thanks for your help I have the 360 for 3 PCs so I'll see how much to get the extra licence then go from there. The PC come with Mcafee but I've always used Norton and I'm comfortable with it.

You don't need an extra licence if you have the 3PC version unless you are already using it on 3 PCs ....
When looking for prices or ordering Norton 360 remember there are two main versions Standard and Premier with different amounts of online storage and using different, noninterchangeable keys so make sure you match what you have and what you buy and then you can extend your licence when it is nearly expired by just using the key -- you don't have to reinstall.
You don't have to match the year either so buy 2013 or 2014 whichever is cheaper and the keys will work but you have to use the latest version to work in Windows 8+ -- if you have a spare activation then using your Windows 8 computer log onto your Norton Account and download from your account and you get the latest downloadable version already activated .....
And after uninstalling McAfee in the usual way I would download and run the McAfee cleanup tool from their website:
http://mcafee-removal-tool.com/ .
After you download and install the N 360 do run the LiveUpdate several times until it tells you that you are fully uptodate.
