What you disable in the browser will still be covered by the other layers of protection offered in the Norton products. Things just may get a little further onto your system beforel being caught. "
Hi Peter,
Thank you!
I've also downloaded some files and the Download Insight feature works and checked in NIS GUI - Settings that the IPS signatures are all active.
My guess is that even if NVP is disabled in the browser, NIS will still use IPS detection/block if it finds something suspicious even a IE zero day vulnerability which is usually covered by Symantec before MS releases a patch, am I correct??
The behaviour based Sonar detections are what will catch (or try to catch) any zero day infections.
So my question now, and having seen in NS Beta that NVP no longer exists, is that much needed??
I have not downloaded the beta yet, but it seems Norton is going towards cloud based definitions and behaviour based detections as the main line of defense.
Maybe for other running apps in the pc which have also a browser extension add-on like FP, Adobe Reader etc... but not sure.
Regards,
