I do not see where your get that assumption from my post.
The point I was trying to make is that if Canary is not an officially released version of the main Chrome browser, Norton does not support it and it could have been contributing to the unusual behaviour you saw on your system.
Although there are variants of Chrome and Mozilla (Firefox) browsers, it is only the mainstream released versions that are supported by Norton. Also, beta versions of these browsers are not supported.
