Hi seb442.
Thanks for that clarification. I think I now understand the question a bit better but I am not sure I know the answer and may need to seek assistance..
First I must say that I am surprised that you seem to think that you have 50 GB of online storage. The normal storage that comes with N360 is 2 GB for Standard and 25 GB for Premier, I think. So I assume that you have been with N360 Premier for each of your licenses. Can you confirm (or deny this) as it may be relevant later.
Can you also open N360: select Backup: then select Manage Backup Sets: and finally select the Where tab. That should show an entry for your Secure Online Storage. What figures does it give for "Available" and "Total"? I would expect the "Total" to be only 25 GB as I believe the online storage that comes with the package is only valid for the life of the license.
Again to work out what options you may have it could be useful to know how large Norton thinks your current backup should be. This can be found from the Manage Backup Sets window by selecting "Preview".
The reason for seeking the above information is to get a better idea of what space you have and what you need.
As for the new start each time you renew the license, your primary issue I think... well this should not have to happen. What I am not sure about at the moment, is exactly how the change over should be handled to ensure that you do not need to create a new set. In anyone is sure how it needs to be handled (if the user sticks to N360 Premier) then please jump in and let seb442 know. Otherwise I will make some further enquiries...
As for consolidating the backups.... well I'm not sure it is worth doing but let me explain why before we see if you want to go further. As I understand it, your first backup set was some scanned images, the second backup set is whatever you had chosen to backup from the current machine, the third and current set is again what you have chosen to backup from your current machine. Now assuming that for the second and third set your choice of files was the same or very similar, the current backup set seems to render the second set fairly redundant. If the scanned images are still on your current machine and part of the current backup set, then the first backup set also seems fairly redundant. Is my logic clear? Have I understood correctly?
As for merging the data, the only way I can see of doing this is to restore the old data and including it in the new backup set. That however would be a lengthy and possibly complicated process, and with my understanding of the situation I do not see it as being worth while or helpful.
Hopefully the above is useful. I will investigate further how to avoid the need to create a new backup set on license renewal and await your comments on the above.
All the best.
