Hi, johnbee. I'm not sure why Norton flaggedthis file as unsafe, unless it's a rarely used file and Symantec doesn't have enough info on it, to declare it safe.
The site seems legitimate, but you may wish to submit the file to Symantec as a false positive, and let them check it out.

Hi,Stiff_Bored78. Given that the system file check came up negative, you may want to try the Norton Remove and Reinstall Tool which will replace your current copy with a fresh one. http://www.norton.com/nrnr
Please check the Before you begin note at the top of the page, and run Live Updates after, until no more are found.
Let us know how you go.
My keyboard on my laptop has started to play up, keys not working and other printing 3 times, I think it's a bug, not picked up by norton? the the next thing norton disappeared off the task bar it would not start and kept saying it had an error, I would have thought norton would not be so vulnerable, I have ended up downloading it again so now is up and running at the moment, but the keyboard still not working right anyone got any ideas what is going on on what I can do.
Thanks
I went ahead and uninstalled Shockwave.
Since, I've done that Norton Insight Optimizer ran. I know it's supposed to run after Norton detects an install of a program. Does it also run when a program is uninstalled? Just I've not installed any program since uninstall Shockwave so I don't know what else could have made the Optimizer run.
I find the above strange, I am having problems with Norton to. Not the same but after paying for a 12 month Norton protectio9n I end up with 6 months and then it is closed. Strange thing you can not get in touch with Norton about this, What an excellent package!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Keyboards literally take a hammering and do fail ....
So first thing to do is to try another keyboard if you can borrow one. If it's a laptop then use a freestanding keyboard and plug it in.
Check Device Manager (WINKEY + Pause keys -- if they work -- pressed together take you to System Information where you will find Device manager in the left column. See if there are any yellow or red flags there especially against the keyboard.
Double click on the keyboard entry and Select the Driver Tab. Try Uninstall the driver and then reboot the computer so that it loads the keyboard driver again.
BTW It would help to know what version of Windows you are using and the make and model identification of the computer so we can look it up if necessary.
After that we can look at the Norton situation .....
I'm trying scan a few files.
Tried with windows explorer, richt click the file and select 'Scan now' through de Norton 360 Premier section.
And tried through Norton 360 under tasks and execute scan.
But nothing happens................

How have you tried to get in touch with Norton?
The painless way from what we hear from users is to use the Norton OnLine Support via the CHAT system that uses your keyboard not your phone. They have the tools and access to the databases to fix subscription problems.
To contact customer support Click on this link https://www.norton.com/chat and work on from there.
But before you try, check under Support on your Norton product and see if it lists Subscription Status and if so click on it to see if that resets the expiry date.
Where did you buy your copy of Norton? Unfortunately there are some rogues out there selling used copies or used keys ....
Please let us know how you get on ....
Hello. This morning, both Norton 360 and our internet connection stopped working. when I tried to see if N360 would work, I just got a message that said "Exporer.exe" has stopped responding".
So, I restarted the computer and N360 and the internet are working again. I checked "get support" and there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with N360. I checked out event viewer and there were multiple entries of Event 7011, saying "A timeout (30000 milliseconds) was reached while waiting for a transaction response from the N360 service." Does this sound like something potentially serious or does it seem to be a minor hiccup? Thanks
Hi, Mike. The second 2 files are legitimate Windows files, but Qoobox is part of Combofix. NPE is Norton Power Eraser.
Have you used Combofix in the past, for malware removal ?
If you feel you are still infected, I suggest you try one of the free malware removal sites we recommend, where one of the experts will work with you to clean your system.
Unless you know what you are doing, I wouldn't attempt any cleanup on your own.

Hi, Harry. Welcome. What is your operating system, and 360 version number ?
You can find that by going to the main UI, clicking on Support/About.
How did you do the reinstall ? Did you use either the Norton Remove and Reinstall Tool, or the Norton Removal Tool, or did you just uninstall from the Control Panel Programs and Features tab ?
Thanks for the reply. I will try one of the free sites you listed. I'm not sure if I have a virus, but after reinstalling the OS I noticed a lot of things that shouldn't be there. Yes i think I used Combofix a long time ago, but do not remember exactly why. I will use the links you provided and see if they can clean things up. Thanks again!
You're welcome. They are likely orphan files from your previous OS install, but better to set your mind at rest.
The only thing NPE said that he couldn't make up wat 'OpaqueTaskbar.exe' was.
Opaque Taskbar is a little program that makes the taskbar in windows 8 not transparant.
When I run the disc optimixer it defragments both my C and D drives to 0-1%. However my system reserve drives is 41% defragmented and the disc optimizer leaves it that way. There is not an error message. I read online that the system reserve drive does not really need to be defragmented. I would appreciate an answer. In closing my computer has no issues and runs great. Occasionally I will get a high handles alert. Thanks for your time and input.
I thought about that a lot. The new motherboard is UEFI and the old HD is from 2007, I believe, migrated via Acronis from an original 1 TB under Vista that died to another 1 TB, then to a 2 TB. At the time the motherboard died the system drive was 2 TB and there was a 2 TB RAID and a 3 TB RAID. But the new UEFI BIOS is backward-compatible. I could use Acronis to move my system drive, with no drivers, to a UEFI-initialzied 2 TB empty HD and I may do that eventually.
As for the sound drivers and such, Windows Vista and later (I use Windows 7 64-bit) does a "check hardware for changes" and "update drivers" every time you boot, and all the SATA 3,RS-232, and USB III cards had all gone with the old motherboard because the new one needed nothing but a video board, which was new. The only drivers that changed were the sound drivers. I installed the video drivers from DVD as well asall the motherboard drivers, including of course the sound drivers.
The external RAID boxes have their own drivers that Windows Update maintains. I changed one of them, with its drivers, after I changed the motherboard (and case, and video card).
The problems with the Norton 360 errors, mostly 3038,104, started after a couple of months. The computer change was in December 2013. I exchanged the motherboard (dead sound chip) in mid-January. The errors started in March or April. I started keeping a log in late March.
I didn't go back to the Norton online support yesterday because I needed the computer. I will do it next time it happens during business hours so the error is active and I can leave the Norton error screens up when I get the live support. I have a big presentation on the 26th and I'm generating material for it.
Hi cable89sw,
Not exactly my area of expertise, but here is a link for troubleshooting " Explorer.exe has stopped responding" in Win 7 as I don't see which system you are running, so you may have to Locate a link for your OS.

IMHO a OS reinstall is not the place I would start with this situation.
" IMHO a OS reinstall is not the place I would start with this situation."
Yank,
Look at this user posts history and you will likely change opinion.
He/she, constantly reported problems, (OS related & others), and each time a deep look into OS was suggested, the suggestions were ignored.
Anyway I'm done with this thread and also the OP.
Also, Quads reported that his instructions were completely ignored when he was contacted.
If you feel comfortable to deal with the OP's Windows problems then... good luck...
My friends PC in the last few days shows a big red X and says PC security NOT SECURE, AT RISK. I have him press the Fix Now button, and updates are downloaded and installed, but the problem persists. When he trys to run the quick scan it only takes a few seconds and comes back with same message.
Tried rebooting etc same result. He is on Windows 8.
What is happening? and is there some way for him to fix this without re-installing the software?
Thanks....
