I will wait for couple of hours and then update you. Because last time, it took sometime to popup in Action center.
I didnt use any security product other than Norton 360 for last 2 years. Also the system date/time are looking good. I didnt change anything.

If you had a previous av product, was it properly removed using that product's removal tool ?
If other companies' avs are not removed completely, that can cause conflict.

I have a new computer and I would like to get Norton from my old computer transferred to my new computer. How can I do that?

What you can do is to sign in to https://manage.norton.com/ with your Norton Account details and go to the My Account > Product Details. Click on your current subscription. You will see your current installations and by clicking the trash can icon next to the old PC it will disable the protection on that PC and free up an activation to use on the new one.

If the new PC comes pre-installed with a trial security program it will need to be thoroughly removed by using that programs removal tool before you install N360. Uninstalling from Windows Control Panel isn't always enough. If you can tell us which security program the new PC comes with we can give you a link to the removal tool.

thanks for the tip. I tried the sfc/scannow. Both with and without the KB installed the scan reported Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations. Sadly once the KB trio had reinstalled themselves - I had no access to any network, so guess I'm back to square one - all very puzzling.

I bought a copy of classic power basic for windows and downloaded it today. I am allowed to download it three times only. Norton's deleted it and said it was unsafe. It was called setupclasspb.exe and cost $100. Have I been cheated, or done something wrong, or is it really safe and Norton's is being too careful, or what? Is it best for me to disable Norton's, install powercasic and then enable Norton's again?

1. What is GameOver Zeus threat?
GameOver Zeus (GOZ) is a variant of Trojan.Zbot, often known as 'Zeus', and uses a peer-to-peer network and domain generation algorithm (DGA) for command and control. For more information, read the announcement from US-CERT.
2. What does GameOver Zeus do?
The GameOver Zeus botnet can be used to facilitate financial fraud on a large scale by hijacking thousands of victims' online banking sessions. GameOver Zeus is typically distributed through an email which poses as an invoice. Once an infected user visits their banking website from a compromised computer, GameOver intercepts their online session using a technique commonly known as man-in-the-browser (MITB). It can bypass two factor authentication and display fraudulent banking security messages to the user to obtain information for transaction authorization. As soon as the attackers get these details, they can modify the users' banking transactions and steal their money.
3. How does Norton protect me?
All Norton security products (including Norton AntiVirus, Norton Internet Security, Norton 360, and Norton Security Suite) incorporate multiple layers of defense against malicious software like GameOver Zeus. However, these threats constantly change to try and evade detection.
If your computer becomes infected, perhaps due to a new variant or because you do not have an active Norton subscription, the threat itself is very difficult to detect. If you think your computer is infected with GameOver Zeus virus, then use the Norton custom removal tool to check your computer. This tool is designed to by pass the rootkit evasion techniques of the threat itself and removes it.
